A Day in Life in Assisted Living

One of the biggest reasons people resist trying something new is not knowing what to expect. This is especially true when it comes to something like moving to an assisted living community. Of course, it’s also a fact that you won’t know what it’s like until you do it, but sometimes it’s possible to peak behind the veil and get an understanding of what could happen.

To give you an idea it’s like at our assisted living community, we’ll take you through a day in the life. You can also read about how assisted living differs from a nursing home as well as how assisted living compares to independent living.

Starting Your Day

First off, at Freedom Village there’s not a wrong or right time to do things. You set your schedule. When you’re ready to start your day, we’ll see that you have the assistance you want and need with getting ready including making sure you have your favorite necklace securely clasped. Then you can meet friends for breakfast or coffee and catch up on the events of the day.

After you’ve enjoyed breakfast and the local scuttlebutt, you could head to a group fitness class for stretching and balance or water aerobics in our heated indoor pool. Maybe you want to work on your watercolor a little more in our arts and crafts studio. You could also join friends for a walk on our beautiful walking paths or a trip to the farmers’ market. Of course, you could just relax in our community flower and vegetable garden by tending to your own plot or enjoying the results of other residents’ work.

Afternoons are for Adventures

If you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to grab a healthy and hearty lunch before getting started. Afternoons are a great time for family visits and field trips to local art museums, boutiques, restaurants and breweries or join your neighbors volunteering at one of our many options. You can also stay closer to home and enjoy a competitive game of bridge or poker. Afternoons are also a good time to check out one of the over 45 community clubs. When you return home to get ready for dinner, you’ll find your residence has been cleaned and tidied.

Relaxing Evenings

Just because the day is winding down doesn’t mean you have to. Enjoy some laughter and conversation at a happy hour or one of our themed dinners. Afterwards, check out a performance in our theater or attend an educational lecture. Or maybe you have something you want to share and are the one giving the presentation on an area of your expertise or travels. Evenings are also a good time to just relax with a good book.

When it’s time to turn in, our staff can help you shower and get ready for bed with reminders to take your medications before wishing you a good night. You’re sure to sleep well, knowing you’ve had a really good day, and another one is waiting for you tomorrow.

So, what is assisted living at Freedom Village like? We know you have a lot of living to do each day and want to ensure you can do everything you want by provide just the right level of assistance at just the right time.
